Haruna Maitala settles N12.5m WAEC fee for 500 Students in his constituents
Haruna Maitala, the member representing Jos North/Bassa federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Haruna Maitala has settled the West African School Certificate Examination fees of 500 members of his constituency this cheerful act was done In a bid to eradicate educational illiteracy and educational empowerment in Jos North/Bassa federal constituency.
The member representing Jos North/Bassa federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Haruna Maitala has settled the West African School Certificate Examination fees of 500 members of his constituency. Benue/Plateau Trust gathered that the sum of N12.5m was disbursed and each beneficiary was paid N20,000 to settle the examination fees. Maitala had said the gesture was part of his educational empowerment initiative to eradicate illiteracy in the constituency and ensure development through education.
Abdulkadir Hassan, a senior legislative aide to the member, said the beneficiaries were selected across all the wards in the constituency adding that, “the selection exercise was free of bias, it was done to ensure that the constituents are educated.”
He said the member was also planning to pay the Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) fees for the 500 beneficiaries and advised them to work hard to pass their exams.
One of the beneficiaries, Juliet Joseph, expressed joy at the gesture and prayed God to assist the member to continue the good work.
